A long time ago I wandered into Sunrise Mart and was astounded by it’s deli-esque nature. It’s uncommon to find a delicious Udon/Ramen/Soba place that also sells all manner of grocery items, from crackers and snacks, to noodles, to an aisle solely focused on matcha, such as green tea kit-kats. The space is cramped, but only because it is filled with so many things. I really recommend going around 1:30 if you can hold off on lunch that long because it’s really fun to shop around. But when it’s crowded, you feel kind of guilty taking up space in the aisles. Bring some pocky back for your office. They will love you...

Saigon Shack is my go-to place for pho whether there be rain, shine, or snow (Hah! Unintentional rhyming). Tucked in between a line of other restaurants and shops in Greenwich Village, Saigon Shack can be rather difficult to locate at first. If you happen to venture there at a peak time, however, you’re bound to come across clusters of people waiting outside to either get seated or pick up their takeaway. Despite its rather small seating area, which happens to be more or less one of Saigon’s very few negative aspects, the wait is usually fairly manageable. The service also happens to be very quick and efficient, which comes in handy during one’s limited lunch break...
